teething...

Seems like over the past couple weeks Nate is finally cutting in his first tooth - and doing 2 at once! The two bottom teeth are coming in and he is having a hard time resting and going down for bed.

So, all you experienced mommas and poppas - any suggestions? We've got the teething tablets, and also used some motrin tonight. Almost got some rum... :-)

I did it!

Yes, I did! I now officially weigh less than I did when I got pregnant! yea! I'm a fan of weight watchers and it has worked! Thanks to Kathy, Jenn and Ryan for all their help!

So, the next time I see you, you will see less of me! Whoop!

Garden - weeks 4 and 5

Well, the garden is producing more! In addition to the basil and cilantro, we've been able to harvest some green onions and jalepenos! yea! We now have tomatoes growing on all 4 plants, and bell peppers growing on the red pepper plants and I think a few ones on their way on our orange bell peppers. I think tonight we will be able to try one of our summer squashes too!

We had had a problem of the tomato flowers dropping off. Any suggestions? The plant is growing like crazy, but there is little fruit growing on them. As you can see, they have grown passed the 2nd rung and up to the 3rd!

Here are some pics!

Texas Alliance for Life Walk 2009

Over the past 3 years our family has raised over $1000 a year to support Texas Alliance for Life. I worked there for 2 1/2 years and know the great work they are doing in saving lives and educating the public here in Texas. I hope we can raise even more this year!

I'd like to invite you to join us at the 15th Annual Texas Alliance for Life Walk 2009 on June 6 at The Quarries in Austin, June 20 at the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center in Seguin, or June 27 in Sun City, Georgetown. We plan to attend the Walk in Georgetown.

We will be walking with hundreds of Texans from dozens of churches to promote the sanctity of innocent human life and to raise funds for life-saving programs and agencies in our community.

100% of the proceeds will support these programs and agencies, and all donations are tax-deductible. I ask you to think about pledging Nate this year. Feel free to do so or find more information by clicking here.

Thank you for supporting the Walk 2009!

Daybook - May 19

For Today (okay, only a day late), my Daybook ...

Outside My Window…
cool, sunny, nice!

I am thinking…
That I don't like having a sick son! Nate has had a fever since Sunday and the doc says he has a virus. Have to ride it out!

I am thankful for…
that the only thing I can complain about is that Nate is sick. God is good!

We are learning…
More crawling! Nate is also loving to dance, move his hands around, and eat some new foods (like french fries this weekend!)

From the kitchen…
With a sick baby I don't want to cook. Hopefully I have some frozen meals I can whip up this week!

I am wearing…
olive green pants and 2004 Old Navy shirt

I am creating…
I'm embarrassed to say...Nate's 9/10 month cards! Seriously, will I ever get this done?

I am going…
to stay home. Can't go out until Nate's fever breaks and is low for a day. Was 102 this morning, so nowhere today or tomorrow. Hopefully our mom's rosary group Thursday and maybe out hiking or something like that on Friday, since Ry has the day off! Field trip!

I am reading…
not much. Too much time on-line - finding our summer vacation plane tickets, blogging, etc.

I am hoping…
Nate gets better soon! The fever doesn't seem to affect his mood - still crawling and laughing and all.

Around the house…
Eat some of my yummy garden veggies! Hopefully some squash and jalepenos this week! Also Nana is coming to visit, so it will be nice to have her help tomorrow. And not to forget - our housemate is moving in Saturday - my sister for the summer!

One of my favorite things…
that I stay at home with my son. Even though this week with Nate being sick has totally turned "my schedule" around, knowing that it can all wait and I can just hold my son and comfort him and not have to worry about anything else!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
Sun Harvest, Mom's rosary group, Nana visiting, my sister moving in, long 4 day weekend for Ry!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing, my smiling, crawling son!

Fr. Mike

One of the best priests I know came over for dinner last Friday. Yes, it is Fr. Mike! He was the pastor of St. Mary's when I was in college and has been a true friend and mentor over the years. I am honored to call him my friend and happy that he is able to come dine with us! I just love having priests over - feeding their stomachs and having them feed us in their wisdom! Luckily, he's staying close by - come July he will be pastor of St. Thomas More Parish here in Austin!

Here are a few pics from the evening. Nate finally warmed up to Fr. Mike by the end of the evening!

Baby food...

First and foremost - wanna give props to my boys! I had a great Mother's Day yesterday!! Love the beautiful earrings and will get good use of the Starbucks giftcard!

Okay, back to food! Since Nate began eating solids at 6 months, I've tried to make them for him as much as possible. Then life happens.... So, I need some feedback from my readers... what are your "go-to" foods - easy to make and prepare for the little ones? My favs are yo-baby yogurt, organic applesauce (thanks to Rowena - cheaper than "baby food") and baking a sweet potato in the microwave.

Looking forward to some new ideas!

10 months!

Our little guy is 10 months old! Yea! People told me that this would pass quickly and it has!

Let's see...what has gone on this past month... Easter, the garden, visits from Nana and Papa (as they look for a home in the area), a visit from Tessa neni, and a visit from Mama and Grandpa (and they hadn't seen Nate in 2 months!). Oh, and the car was in the shop most of the month - so we had to get creative on outings! My parents even watched him for a few hours so we could go out to dinner - the first time they had done that for us. And Nate treated them pretty well too!

Developmentally Nate has begun eating small pieces of food (puffs, cooked carrots and pears), he's waving (and sometimes with both hands - too cute!), he was spinning around and moving backward for awhile, loved playing with his bed bumper (until we moved the bed down) went down a slide for the first time, caught him putting rocks in his mouth at the park, and the week before he turned 10 months, the boy started crawling! I must clarify that it is "commando" crawling - on his tummy - but that's crawling! He's even figured how to hold the tennis ball and tease Charlie with it. Also, dog toys seem much more interesting that baby toys... I've realized too that the house isn't very child-proofed and Ry and I are working on that!

It's funny, I think most of his changes took place just before he turned 10 months. We've now realized that it is kinda hard to have him sleep with us (when he wakes up early), because he rolls and twists and moves too much!!

Seems like as months go on, I have more pics to share! Here are my top 18!

Garden - weeks 2 and 3

Well, the garden is growing! In the past 2 weeks the squash and peas have totally sprouted! I cleared out 11 of the 13 squash plants, and have been giving them to friends and neighbors. We still have a few left, in case you want one!

We have 4 pear tomatoes growing on 1 plant. The other plants have had flowers but nothing has started to grow. Any suggestions for pear and cherry tomatoes? As you can see we put in the wire things, and they have already grown past the 1st rung!

The peppers have also had blooms, but haven't seen any grow yet.

What we thought was zucchini was another squash plant. We grew this from a plant, and it already has 8 little squash growing from it. I'm thinking of replacing on of the squash from seed and putting a zucchini plant there. I didn't even know squash had flowers - boy was that a surprise when I went to the garden this week!

The onions are growing strong. I plan to try to pick one this week to see how they are as green onions. We have lots of basil and cilantro and have been able to share those with friends, family and neighbors. Too bad there isn't rain in the forecast this week!!

Daybook - May 5

For Today (okay, only a day late), my Daybook ...

Outside My Window…
hot, sunny, and humid!

I am thinking…
That I've been married to my best friend for 7 years yesterday! Whoop! And we're just getting started!!

I am thankful for…
that my husband asked me to be his wife, and through all our trials and tribulations, we've become soo close! He truly is the love of my life

We are learning…
Full on crawling! And into it all - especially dog toys. I don't know why they are more intriguing than baby toys...

From the kitchen…
Need to work on my meal plan! Going to the neighbors tomorrow, and one of our favorite priests, Fr. Mike, is coming for dinner on Friday!

I am wearing…
grey capris and white shirt

I am creating…
still working on Nate's 9 month update cards to family, and his 10 month update...

I am going…
took our friend Shana and Thomas to Jungle Java today for her birthday. Just errands and cleaning (seems like I do that every week...)

I am reading…
finished my Dr. Laura book (In Praise of Stay at Home Moms) last week. Now I really need to start the Shack.

I am hoping…
that we can get this house child-proofed soon!

Around the house…
the garden is growing! Soo wonderful! Also need to figure out how to get Nate on a better sleeping schedule...no naps are draining me (although he is taking one now!)

One of my favorite things…
seeing Nate explore the house. Yesterday he banged on a door and his metal trash can for 10 minutes! He is having soo much fun exploring everything!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
Sun Harvest, Mom's rosary group, Sam's, dinner with neighbors, dinner with Fr. Mike, and my Mother's Day weekend!!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing, from our date night a week and a half ago. My parents watched Nate and Ry and I went out to the Domain for appetizers, martinis and dessert!

6 babies...

At Pumpkin's baby shower, I had 5 other friends who were pregnant with me. The first 3 of us did not know the gender of our babies, the last 3 knew they were having boys. Well, it turned out we all had boys!

Here we are at the shower (in May 2008)

And here we are 11 months later! The boys range in age from 11 months to 6 months. From left to right - Kristy and Joshua, Paula and Sam, Robin and Drew, Me and Nate, Lisa and Andrew, and Rowena and Henry.

I also figured out that between the 6 of us we have 12 children under the age of 4 1/2, and THEY ARE ALL BOYS!! Craziness!

Guess we will have to keep up these reunions - it was fun seeing all the boys and seeing how much a child can change from 6 to 11 months (and us moms change too)!

And Happy 10 month birthday today Nate!!
