2 - Finally got Nate's 1 year pics done.

3 - Did the vacation laundry and put it in the respective rooms...now just need to put 'em away.

Birthday boy!

We had a great time for Nate's birthday! My mom, brother, sister, Ry's parents and uncle Justin and aunt Danielle were here to celebrate with him! My dad came in the following day, followed by my aunt and 2 cousins. Boy did we have a houseful!

Nate also had his 12 month appointment - 19.1lbs (10%), 29 inches (25%), and head circumference of 80%!

Here are some pics from the birthday weekend!

end of an era...

Today I nursed Nate for the last time. We started weaning a few weeks ago and were down to just one a day - which only lasts a few minutes. To be honest, breast-feeding was much harder than I expected. My milk took almost a week to come in, then he wasn't getting enough, pumping between feedings, and supplementing with formula.

Yet, through it all, I found out that I love to feed my child. It is something I can do and we can be alone. We watched lots of the Olympics and many an episode of Law and Order. Sometimes we just sat in quiet, usually to just get away when the house was crazy with visitors.

I'm going to miss it. But, I know that although there are things that are ending, we have many more beginnings ahead for us.

Nate, I am glad we were able to share this time together. And thanks for being soo patient with me!

12 months!

I can now say I am the mother of a 1 year old! Amazing. With all we went to trying to have children, it is amazing how fast it has gone!

Highlights from Month 12: 4 upper teeth coming in (6 total), super-fast army crawler, getting good on baby sign (more, eat, clap, all done), pulling up, walking around coffee table, walking aided by hands (sometimes just one), playing in Charlie's water dish, and eating whatever we are having. He has also found the cabinets and the fridge! Nate also went out to his first baseball game - go Round Rock Express! Blowing on stomaches is also fun - especially Mommy's. But in a pinch, anyone else's can do, and arms are also good! Nate also loves doing his chores - he's great with the swiffer!

We had several big events this month - Fr. Will's priestly ordination, the moving of our good friends the Bratten's, and Father's Day.

Here are a few of our favs. More on Nate's birthday soon!

pesto?

Anyone got a good pesto recipe? The garden has lots of basil, and I was wanting to make some for us to eat now and freeze for later. I know some recipes use walnuts, and I have those on hand too! Suggestions?
