end of an era...

Today I nursed Nate for the last time. We started weaning a few weeks ago and were down to just one a day - which only lasts a few minutes. To be honest, breast-feeding was much harder than I expected. My milk took almost a week to come in, then he wasn't getting enough, pumping between feedings, and supplementing with formula.

Yet, through it all, I found out that I love to feed my child. It is something I can do and we can be alone. We watched lots of the Olympics and many an episode of Law and Order. Sometimes we just sat in quiet, usually to just get away when the house was crazy with visitors.

I'm going to miss it. But, I know that although there are things that are ending, we have many more beginnings ahead for us.

Nate, I am glad we were able to share this time together. And thanks for being soo patient with me!

Great job on sticking with it! That first year is full of so many wonderful memories, all kinds.

Awww...weaning can be so emotional for mom and baby (but mostly mom I think!) But you are right...many new beginnings. Good job, Momma!
